Museum Designs

Prompt:
You are a freelance graphic designer. A local museum is curating the collections of various artists for their upcoming seasonal exhibits. Currently, the museum has curated three new unique collections that vary in style, aesthetic, and artistry. The museum has approached you to create a catalog showcasing one of these collections. The catalog will be text-heavy due to each collection’s descriptions and artist statements.
Description:
For this design I chose to impose my printer spread as a 2-up saddle stitch as this type of spread will print on both sides of the paper and can then be folded and stapled which is what’s needed for a catalog. By imposing the document, the sequencing of pages is changed so that when the catalog is printed and folded the reader spread appears in the right order.

Prompt:
You are a freelance graphic designer working with a museum’s marketing team to create various promotional materials. They want to mail customized New Year greeting cards to their members that showcase the artwork from the new exhibits. You have been asked to design and prepare the card for printing.
Description:
To make sure this card is suitable for printing I incorporated bleed into the design by extending the cover image and background color used on the top inside section of the card to the bleed lines since these were the two areas where the content reached the sides of the page. This way when printing there wouldn’t be any unintended white space on the edges of the card.
To make this card print ready I designed the printer spread and ensured that after printing the reader’s spread would be viewed in the way I intended it to. The pages of the InDesign document can easily be printed with one on each side of a single piece of paper and folded into the correct shape.
